Prepared Students…Prosperous Region
Our Vision: Every student on a pathway to becoming a productive individual in a prosperous region.
Our Mission: Engaging community partners to align Central Alabama’s resources to prepare every student for college, career and life.
Our Problem: Less than one third of all high school students in Alabama are college and career ready, and in some school systems, less than 60% of the students graduate on time. Of the students who go on to 2 and 4 year colleges, one third require remediation in reading and math. (Source: ALSDE)
Our Key Strategies: We are forming collaborative action networks to achieve key outcomes at critical stages along the education continuum. These collaborative action networks will bring together community partners from all sectors to work on specific challenges, with a commitment to align our efforts and use common measurements to chart our course. Some of the areas we’ve identified for collaborative action are: universal access to quality pre-K, providing the necessary support inside and outside school for all students to be proficient in reading and math and graduate on time, and connecting all students with pathways to careers and post-secondary opportunities.
By the year 2020 the graduation rate in Central Alabama will be 90% and every student will graduate prepared for college, career, and life.
