The Bold Goals Coalition recently unveiled its first Policy Agenda, which will guide the Coalition’s efforts in key issue areas across Central Alabama. Recognizing that policy change is a powerful tool for transforming systems, the Bold Goals Coalition Steering Committee approved an agenda that is focused on six issues consistently represented among the Coalition priorities:
- Hunger Relief
- Mental Health
- Early Education
- Student Academic Support
- Health Care
- Transportation
While the Coalition has been involved in previous policy efforts related to advancing particular issues, such as FAFSA Completion and Safe Transportation Options, the 2022 Policy Agenda is the first Coalition-wide strategy related to policy change. The approach is designed to support the long-term, community-wide changes that the Coalition and its partners have been working toward since its creation in 2014.
In addition to programmatic efforts and specific project investments, the focus on policy change is a critical element of the Coalition’s collective impact approach. By bringing together nonprofit organizations, businesses, philanthropic groups and policy makers at the city, county, state and school-district level, the Coalition is working to find solutions to our region’s biggest issues. We are excited to work with our partners in the coming days to advance policy changes that strengthen communities and support families across the region.
The Bold Goals Coalition is 200 organizations solving big community problems by aligning partners, resources and agendas.
