A New Level of Connectivity Will Help Put People on Solid Ground

During the past several months, members of the Bold Goals Coalition’s Financial Services Network (FSN) have been working to develop a new initiative that will redefine the way nonprofits in our community collaborate to aid individuals and families struggling with financial instability. Using a shared client-management system, participating organizations will be able to not only connect their clients with programs available throughout the network of financial service providers, but also begin tracking their clients’ progress collectively.

Earlier this month, the FSN Steering Committee, led by co-chairs Robert Aland of National Bank of Commerce and Greg King of IBERIABANK, approved a plan to pilot this program in July.

Sara Newell, Senior Vice President of Community Impact at United Way of Central Alabama, has been part of the Bold Goals Coalition since its inception in 2013. “This is a major milestone for the Financial Services Network,” she said. “Each family has its own unique needs, and the work we are doing will create opportunities for us to leverage the strengths of all our FSN partners to ensure that every person we serve has access to the resources he or she needs to be successful.”

As a reflection of that commitment, the FSN Steering Committee has also approved a new Bold Goal for the network: “Help 2,500 people in Central Alabama achieve financial stability by 2025.”

The new pilot program will be instrumental to our success in achieving that goal.
