Growing the Bold Goals Financial Services Network

The Bold Goals Financial Services Network (FSN) recently finished compiling baseline financial data with the intent to build a better system of financial literacy services, particularly to low-income people and those at-risk for predatory lending practices.

After receiving feedback on this data from the FSN Steering Committee in late September 2016, the Network Team is focusing on not only finding new ways to analyze the data, but also on incorporating more resources and partner agencies into the network. Marketing materials are currently being developed to make the partnering financial literacy services known to a larger audience. In addition, United Way of Central Alabama staff are creating GIS (Geographic Information System) maps to analyze the incoming data and identify neighborhoods in need of quality financial services.

Current FSN participants include Gateway, Greater Birmingham Habitat for Humanity, Birmingham Urban League, Jefferson County Committee for Economic Development (JCCEO), Neighborhood Housing Services of Birmingham (NHSB), Salvation Army-Birmingham Area Command, and UWCA Financial Stability Program. If your agency provides financial literacy services of any kind and would like to be involved in the Bold Goals Coalition, please contact Hannah Tillman at htillman@uwca.org for more information.
